The factors causing teacher burnout - personal and social characteristics

The article discusses the essence of the teacher burnout concept, overviews the history of burnout research and identifies the main findings of teacher burnout studies conducted in various countries. The need to carry out similar research with Georgian population has been identified. A pilot, small-scale study has been conducted in Georgia. The study shows that in contrast to the teachers from other countries, most teachers participating in the given study do not think they experience burnout syndrome and believe that they have positive stress coping strategies. To increase the reliability of the data received, the authors plan to conduct a large scale survey using the full version of the research instrument.
